Thanks for the words! I enjoy reading, or sometimes skimming :P, these things. :) At that time of this article and all those releases I was so obsessed with this label. North is still one of my faves. It felt so exciting and different, it touched on various things I was loving, the resurgence of 'UK' genres like garage and UK funky emerging, white boy electronic indie like Darkstar, Burial of course. It was so varied and forward thinking. But that feeling didn't seem to last and it stopped being as interesting to me as time went on. Not sure I changed or the label did. Probably a bit of both.
True, true. Some labels keep evolving though, like Warp and Ninja Tune for example. I feel like I'll be fans of those labels for life, and have been since the 90s! But you're right, I always feel a sense of sadness when I excitedly check out a label or artists from a scene and it disappoints you for like the 3rd time in a row and then you stop checking. Like that phase/scene is over now, and it was so exciting to start with. Kinda like a relationship LOL!
Yeah, might be more a case of it not evolving in a direction that aligned with your taste! I think you'd find the last 15 years if Hyperdub has been pretty significant for a large number of people. All of that said, something very special happened in the late 2000s/early 2010s.
💯 That's always an interesting thing too, like when you tastes align with a label/artist/scene, and then that thing drifts off in a different direction. Same with your friends etc.

How long do scenes last for really? 3-5 years a lot of the time I reckon. It was a moment for sure. We change, but the world changes as well.

In the words of Andre 3000, "I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a 'Rap' Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time."
